Christoper Westcott Cemetery

The Christopher Westcott Cemetery is in Noble County, Ohio. South of Cambridge, Ohio on I-77, take Exit 28 to Belle Valley. Go right on Rt. 821 and left on the first street – Noble Co. 20 (says West St & Chapel Rd also). Go 1.4 miles and then right on Noble Twp. 41 (Horn Ridge Rd). Go 1.4 miles to the Christopher Westcott cemetery on the right. — Contributed by Betty W. Acker.

Christopher Westcott came to Noble County from Rhode Island by covered wagon in 1816. See Christopher Westcott’s 1816 Migration to Ohio. Christopher was a descendant of Stukely and Juliana Westcott in the sixth generation: Christopher6 Westcott, Johnathan5, Samuel4, Benjamin3, Jeremiah2, Stukely1.

  • Eliza Jane, daughter of Gorton & Martha Westcott, died Aug. 13, 1836, aged 3 Mo. 5 ds.
  • In Memory of Martha, wife of Gorton Westcott — Note: Gorton changed his name to Gordon, remarried and moved to Missouri.
  • In Memory of Mary A., daughter of C. & M. G. Westcott, died Dec. 23, 1832 in the 9th year of her age.
  • In Memory of Amanda, daughter of C & M. G. Westcott, who died Jan. 1, 1824, aged 1 yr 6 mo.
  • Mary G., wife of Christopher (Westcott), Oct. 7, 1846 Christopher Westcott, Apr. 20, 1857.
  • In Memory of Gorton Briggs, died April 25, 1885, in the 55th year of his age.
  • Giles Biggs.
  • W. P. Smith, C.O.C. 148th Ohio Inf. — He was the first husband of Florence Mabel Westcott.
  • Children of Christopher and Zidania: Birda V, born Aug. 8, 1880; died Oct. 18, 1882 Infant Daughter, born & died Feb. 18, 1888 Children of C. & Z. A. Westcott – Gone but not forgotten.
  • Lewis C. Westcott, born Mar. 6, 1820; died July 18, 1906. Cordelia F, his wife, born Oct. 11, 1825; died Nov. 12, 1901 Gone But Not Forgotten.
