Portrait of John Wescott and His Daughters

This 4” by 6” sepia tone print is from an album of various Westcott cousins and distant cousins assembled by then SSWDA Historian Better Acker in 1998. The subjects, John Wescott and his daughters, are identified by a note on the back of this portrait from the studio of L.D. Huffstater: “John Westcott, son of Johnson and Sally (Howland) Westcott born Mar.1, 1855. His daughters, Lulu (born June 12, 1882) and Adah (born April 28, 1886). Taken when Lulu was about 11 or 12 yrs. and Adah 7 or 8 yrs. old.”

John Wescott, the youngest of Johnson Wescott Jr. and Sarah “Sally” Howland’s 12 children, was a descendant of Stukely and Juliana Westcott in the eighth generation: John Wescott8, Johnson Jr.7, Johnson6, Oliver Westcott5, George4, Jeremiah Jr.3, Jeremiah2, Stukely1. (The middle “t” was lost in the sixth generation.)
